Mhw Anyway to Find a Monster Again Once It Has Left the Locale
Why is this a thing? I was fighting an Anja for 10 mins and it left while limping.
You did not kill or capture it fast enough. Welcome to expedition, where 3 months are always on the field and some of them make place for another.
It only happens on expeditions because there is no time limit on those, they are for mainly gathering.
If you want to kill the large monsters then do it as a quest or investigation.
if they have been in the field for a while they will leave. regardless of how low you get them. its a timer. I recommend using investigations to hunt specific monsters. expeditions to get mats and gathering, if a new monster comes into the zone that you want, switch to killing it while its fresh in the zone.

that's because monsters leave during Expedition Mode after about 15-20 minutes, roughly. that's why people always suggest killing monsters during quests because they don't run if you're on a quest.
Spend 30 minutes on a Rathalos and watch it just fly away because it got bored of you. If you think Anja is rude for his sudden departures, just wait until you have to fight enemies that spend 90% of the fight in the air, and then they leave because it won't let you kill it fast enough.
Any monsters which are not part of the mission will also leave the area after a set amount of time.

You dont hunt monsters in expeditions unless you can in I'll them, that's what optionals and investigations are for
Once you've killed a monster via a main quest, it's basically converted into an "optional" quest you can repeat as often as you like. Use that for specific hunts.

Basically if you're undergeared, it can be hard to kill things on the expeditions.
Though once you've gotten some better stuff, you'll be able to start killing things left and right.

Even if you don't have a quest for that monster, if you know it spawns with something else within a quest for a different monster (anja showing for puke) you can start the puke quest and just hunt anja first. The only caveat to this approach is that you will still need to be careful how often you die and will have to complete the actual quest to get rewards. But, as most monsters will appear in the arena once you've captured them, you can capture anything you want to farm up materials from before you get the quest for hunting that monster.

I snuck up on it, hit it twice; and the second it got up, it flew down into the abyss and I got the notification "monster has left the locale". Seriously WTF!?!?
Do you think it's a mechanic to stop you from getting material before you're supposed to?

No. you're not fast enough. I created new character and be able to kill it.
This reason make me to hate this game forever, i will not support this game and this dev who created this game, i wasting my 15 minute to heist rathalos but finally that suk left the locale my heist is fail.
